Dow Increases Prices for Emulsion Polymers for Paper and Paperboard in Europe, Middle-east, Africa and India

Horgen, Switzerland - May 21, 2008

Effective June 1, 2008, or as contracts permit, Dow’s Emulsion Polymers business is increasing the prices of all styrene butadiene (S/B) latex products sold into the paper and paperboard industry by Euro 40 MT(dry) in Europe, Middle east, Africa and India.

The price increase on latex products is necessary help offset the rising costs of raw materials and energy. The escalation in the cost of many key raw materials coupled with the steep rise of energy used to manufacture our S/B products has eroded margins to unsustainable levels.

Dow Emulsion Polymers is dedicated to providing the paper and paperboard industry with the widest and most innovative range of styrene butadiene and styrene acrylate latex technologies and is the leading manufacturer of S/B latex and solid plastic pigments that are used in coatings for fine papers, publication papers and coated board used in packaging.
